A lovely country house, set in two acres of private ground, which can accommodate up to sixteen people. It is located on the edge of the pretty village of Woodhouse Eaves in the Charnwood Forest area, approximately an hour’s drive of the Derbyshire Peak District National Park and also the vibrant city of Nottingham. It is ideal for groups of family or friends to gather together in a beautiful part of England.

The House on the Hill was included in the Independent's Best Holiday Cottages with Pools. It is set over three floors, with rural views to enjoy from every window.

It has seven bedrooms, all tastefully furnished, the master bedroom having an en-suite bathroom with jacuzzi bath-tub, and a balcony overlooking the grounds.

The first floor sitting room has comfortable seating, a wood burning stove, and doors to the rear terrace with a stone stairway leading down to the garden.

The kitchen is modern and bright, with a breakfast bar and a cosy sitting area. It leads into the dining room. Several doors open onto the outside patio.

There is a heated outdoor swimming pool complete with seating and loungers, in a lovely setting, close to the orchard, lawns and patios.

Woodhouse Eaves has a good selection of gastro-pubs, restaurants and shops, as do other villages in Charnwood Forest. The surrounding countryside is particularly beautiful and includes the Beacon Hill Country Park and Bradgate Park.

The Great Central Railway which showcases heritage steam trains is in the nearby village of Quorn.

A pretty village surrounded by unspoilt countryside, Woodhouse Eaves has a good selection of pubs, restaurants and shops, and nestles on the side of Beacon Hill, a 330-acre country park providing visitors with picnic areas, many lovely walks and cycle trails. With its elevated position, clear days can provide panoramic views across to the Peak District and Lincoln Cathedral. Bradgate Country Park and Swithland Wood are also close by, where many activities can be enjoyed including horseback riding, cycling, early bird walks and open-air theatre events. Full-size steam trains running every weekend can be seen at Great Central Railway, which was featured on Seven Natural Wonders programme. Nearby Loughborough hosts weekly outdoor markets and boasts a number of art deco and Victorian buildings and a selection of museums. The town of Melton Mowbray, know as the Rural Capital of Food and famous for producing Stilton cheese and pork pies, has much to offer visitors with many ancient monuments, buildings with special historic interest and 16 designated SSSIs, as well as archaeological evidence dating back to the Bronze and Iron Age. The County town of Derby, the starting point of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, is only a short drive away and offers great shops, pubs and restaurants, along with some splendid museums and an excellent art gallery. Slightly further afield is the bustling market town of Ashbourne, known as the southern gateway to the Peak District National Park and famous for its annual Shrovetide football match.
